You may be finishing university or starting your career, but you've already taken the initiative to make something happen. Perhaps you built a useful tool, helped grow a small business, organized an event, started a newsletter or improved something at a part-time job. You enjoy figuring things out and seeing your work make a difference.
At Spoks, you'll help Shopify merchants discover and succeed with a simpler, more affordable way to run email and SMS marketing. Work directly with our founder and team in Austin on projects across growth, content, partnerships and operations. You'll turn ideas into something people can use, see how they respond and improve your next attempt.
This is a permanent, full-time role for someone early in their career. Recent graduates are welcome, and no previous full-time experience or particular degree is required. We're interested in your initiative, judgment and ability to learn.
What you'll work on
- Build and test. Create a landing page, improve an onboarding email or help launch a small campaign. Use AI tools to get a useful first version out, then check and improve the work.
- Explore partnerships. Research Shopify agencies and potential collaborators, help prepare outreach and demos, and follow up on promising conversations.
- Create useful content. Work with our Content Producer to turn merchant questions and product ideas into articles, demos and social content.
- Learn from merchants. Talk with customers, understand where they get stuck and help the team improve how people discover, try and use Spoks.
- Make everyday work easier. Build simple automations, organize information and improve recurring tasks so the team can spend more time on customers and growth.
- Understand the results. Track what happened, explain what you learned and recommend what to try next. Connect the work to merchant interest, signups and product use.
You'll have one main project at a time, with a clear outcome and support from the team. As your skills develop, you'll take on larger projects and more responsibility. You don't need to arrive knowing every channel or tool.
What you'll bring
- You can show us something you took ownership of and explain your contribution. Coursework, student organizations, paid work and personal projects all count.
- You write clearly and can turn a complicated idea into a useful explanation, email or page.
- You're comfortable talking to people, asking good questions and following through on what you promise.
- You can work with a spreadsheet, make sense of basic numbers and question whether the evidence supports your conclusion.
- You try things, ask for help when you need it and use feedback to improve. When an approach fails, you can explain what you would change.
- You're curious about ecommerce, software and how businesses grow. You enjoy work that combines creative ideas with practical execution.
One thoughtful project you can explain is a strong starting point. You don't need a large audience, a polished personal brand or an impressive list of internships.
Learn by building
You'll work closely with the founder and teammates who can help you develop your ideas, review your work and understand the results. Expect regular feedback, clear priorities and room to suggest experiments of your own.
Use Claude Code, Codex and other AI tools to build pages, analyze information and automate repetitive work. We'll help you learn the tools; you'll learn to check their output and make your own decisions about what is useful.
Over time, build a body of work you can point to: projects you shipped, processes you improved and lessons from real customers. As we learn where you do your best work, your responsibilities can develop toward growth, partnerships or operations.
Show us your initiative
Show us something you took the initiative to build, grow or improve. What did you personally do, what happened and what did you learn? A student project, part-time job, small business, event, community or useful tool all count. Include a link or example if you have one.
